Auctioneering Services

Dakota County is seeking proposals from qualified vendors to provide auctioneering services for the sale of surplus county equipment, forfeited property, and abandoned property. The contractor will be responsible for producing photographic materials, writing descriptive copy, posting the property to the most appropriate site, and administrating all aspects of the auction. The contract is expected to run from January 1, 2026, to December 31, 2029, with the option for two one-year extensions. The county estimates that the minimum annual dollar value of its property to be sold through internet-based auction sales is approximately $15,000 annually. Key considerations for the proposal include the contractor's experience and qualifications, company stability, and cost of services. • The contractor must provide all services associated with the auction sales, transportation, and transfers of all property. • The contractor must obtain more attractive pricing for the county's property by increasing market presence and bidder base. • The contractor must reduce on-hand property and related costs. • The contractor must provide detailed cleaning of all property to be sold or photographed prior to being posted on the internet. • The contractor must comply with the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards (PCI DSS) and other industry-standard security procedures.
