The National Park Service intends to award a task agreement under a previously competed or single source justified cooperative agreement for the preservation of museum collections at Death Valley National Park. The project aims to enhance physical and digital access to museum collections, ensure long-term preservation, and provide opportunities for Intern/Research Associates to learn about natural and cultural resource stewardship and preservation. The tasks include completing condition reports and treatment proposals, upgrading storage, conducting integrated pest management and environmental monitoring, and assisting with digital imaging and research access.
• The Intern/Research Associates will work with curators and conservators to preserve museum collections in perpetuity.
• The project will expand to include preservation of museum objects such as historic vehicles, leatherwork, ceramics, etc. as additional funds become available.
• The Intern/Research Associates will gain professional training, education, and hands-on experience through project work and interaction with NPS resource managers.
• The project will provide opportunities for the public, researchers, writers, film makers, and staff to have enhanced physical and digital access to museum collections.
