Thermo Fisher Scientific Preventative Maintenance Agreement for Centrifuges

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) is seeking a preventative maintenance agreement for Thermo Fisher Scientific centrifuges. The agreement will cover the maintenance, calibration, and manufacturer-approved servicing of the centrifuges. The centrifuges are used in the Center for Cellular Engineering (CCE) for the manufacturing of cell-based therapies. The CCE requires that the equipment be maintained in a controlled and validated manner in accordance with federal regulations. Thermo Fisher Scientific is the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) of the centrifuges and has exclusive access to proprietary parts, software updates, and technical expertise. • The agreement will cover the maintenance of seven centrifuge models: SorLegendXTRCent12, Sorvall Legend XTR, Sorvall Legend XFR, Sorvall X4RF Pro-M, Multifuge X4 Pro-M, Sorvall BP 8 1P, and Sorvall X4R Pro-MD. • The maintenance services will be provided by Thermo Fisher Scientific, which has been providing maintenance services for the CCE and is familiar with the policies, procedures, and environmental requirements necessary to operate within the CCE cleanroom facilities. • The vendor has completed vendor qualification with the CCE Quality Assurance group and is approved to perform services within the facility. • The agreement is essential to avoid disruptions to manufacturing operations, and delays in procuring the agreement could result in interruptions to equipment availability, which may negatively impact the production of cell therapies and ultimately affect patient care.
