USMC National Museum Sherman Tank Transportation & Salvage

The USMC is seeking a contractor to recover and transport a Sherman tank from Marine Corps Base Twentynine Palms to the National Museum of the Marine Corps in Virginia. The contractor will also salvage usable parts from another tank. The work includes lifting the tank with a crane, loading it onto a semi-trailer, and transporting it to the museum. The contractor must also provide a team to remove specific parts from the second tank and palletize them for shipping. • The tank is a 30-ton M4A3 Sherman tank. • The parts to be salvaged include tracks, road wheels, road wheel arms, drive sprockets, idler wheel, dozer mount, and return rollers. • The contractor must provide a written work plan and transportation plan within two weeks of contract award. • The contractor must furnish a crane capable of lifting the tank and a truck with an RGN semi-trailer to transport the tank. • The contractor must provide proof of certification for riggers, crane operators, and forklift operators. • The contractor must provide proof of insurance with a coverage of $250,000.
