Description

The Macomb County is seeking professional and technical services for the development of comprehensive design and engineering plans to fill gaps in the county's non-motorized trail network. The plans should connect greenspace at the coastline of Lake St. Clair to the existing Great Lakes Way Trail Route, crossing I-94 and M-3 and circumvent Selfridge Air National Guard Base. The project involves passing through Clinton Township, Mount Clemens, Harrison Township, and Chesterfield Township, and establishing non-motorized trail routes along and near M-3 and I-94. The plans should be developed through consistent collaboration with community stakeholders. Key aspects of the project include: • Connecting residents to parks in southern Clinton Twp, waterfront parks, and Downtown Mount Clemens • Closing critical gaps in the non-motorized trail network and sidewalk system • Developing preliminary engineering drawings suitable for grant funding • Providing cost estimates for engineering and trail development • Identifying ways to improve access and alternative transportation options to everyday destinations along M-3

Budget estimate

$500,000 – $2,000,000

The budget for this project can be estimated based on the scope of work, which involves development of comprehensive design and engineering plans for non-motorized trails. The cost of such projects can range from a few hundred thousand dollars to several million dollars, depending on the length and complexity of the trails. Assuming an average cost per mile of trail development, the total budget for this project could be in the range of $500,000 to $2 million. Factors that may influence the likely payment range include the number of miles of trails to be developed, the complexity of the project, and the level of community engagement required.
