Medication Management and Disposal

The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) is seeking a contractor to provide medication collection and disposal services for the Colorado Household Medication Take-Back Program. The program aims to provide a convenient and environmentally sound disposal option for unwanted and unused household medications. The contractor will be responsible for installing collection receptacles, acquiring deposited medications, and destroying them at a disposal facility. The contractor must comply with all applicable local, state, and federal laws and regulations. • The program currently consists of 174 secure collection receptacles at law enforcement agencies and DEA-registered locations across Colorado. • The contractor must provide collection and disposal services at these locations and potentially add new collection sites. • The contractor must also provide monthly reports and invoices utilizing templates provided by the department's program coordinator. • The contract period is expected to be 5 years, with an annual budget of approximately $300,000. • The contractor must have experience in medical, pharmaceutical, and/or hazardous waste disposal, and must be a Registered Hazardous Waste Transporter. • The contractor must also have adequate personnel with the necessary credentials and training to successfully complete the activities in the Statement of Work.
