Description

The Drug-Free Communities (DFC) Support Program aims to establish and strengthen collaborations among communities, public and private non-profit agencies, and federal, state, local, and tribal governments to support community coalitions working to prevent and reduce substance use among youth. The program has two main goals: to establish and strengthen collaboration among communities and to reduce substance use among youth and adults by addressing risk factors and promoting protective factors. Eligible applicants include community-based coalitions addressing youth substance use that have previously received a DFC grant or have experienced a lapse in funding. The program will fund applicants for a period of 5 years, with an estimated total funding of $50,000,000 and an award ceiling of $125,000. Key activities include building coalition capacity, engaging youth and sectors, and implementing evidence-based prevention strategies. Some of the key requirements for applicants include: • Demonstrating a clear understanding of the DFC Support Program's goals and objectives • Providing a detailed plan for building coalition capacity and engaging youth and sectors • Identifying evidence-based prevention strategies to address substance use among youth • Establishing a data management plan to track progress and outcomes • Ensuring compliance with all federal laws, regulations, and executive orders applicable to the award Applicants must also demonstrate compliance with statutory eligibility requirements, including having a mission statement, multiple drugs of use, an evaluation and performance measurement plan, and substantial support from non-federal sources.
