Description
The City and Borough of Wrangell seeks qualified contractors to replace the existing boiler system at Stikine Middle School. The contract is a lump‑sum bid (base) with an optional additive alternate for full boiler‑stack replacement. Work includes demolition of the existing boiler, installation of a new boiler with associated hydronic piping, pumps, expansion tank, air separator, fuel‑oil piping, controls, and electrical connections, plus cleaning and resealing of the existing stack. The project must be completed while the school remains occupied, requiring coordination with school staff and adherence to safety, environmental, and permitting requirements.
• Scope: full removal of existing boiler and installation of a new, fully‑functional boiler system (mechanical & electrical) – optional stack replacement.
• Schedule: Pre‑bid conference 24 Mar 2026; bid deadline 7 Apr 2026; substantial completion 31 Aug 2026; final completion 14 Sep 2026.
• Requirements: 5 % bid bond, Alaska contractor and business licenses, performance bonds, insurance, local‑bid preference, and compliance with Alaska prevailing‑wage rules.
