Background Information
Drug testing is a critical component of monitoring compliance and supporting recovery in treatment courts. While toxicology testing is a valuable part of treatment for substance use disorder, the method and manner among treatment providers varies, directly impacting courts’ ability to effectively monitor participants. As such, the courts have developed a plan for toxicology services for justice involved individuals. A component of this plan is to establish and extend partnerships with independent, CLIA (Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendment)-certified1 laboratories capable of providing clinical testing services.
