Description

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) is seeking applications for a grant to expand the HIV/AIDS prevention toolkit among alcohol-impacted populations. The goal of this research is to develop and test new interventions, expand existing effective interventions, and implement integrative preventive activities in diverse settings and populations. Six areas of research are of primary interest, including PrEP utilization, treatment as prevention, integration of preventive intervention strategies, prevention-related cross-cutting research, syndemic approaches, and implementation and operations research. • The grant will support research that addresses the intersection of alcohol use and HIV prevention. • Applicants must propose innovative and effective interventions to reduce the incidence of new HIV infections. • The research should be conducted in a variety of settings and populations, including those with a range of patterns of episodic and long-term alcohol use. • The grant will provide funding for up to one year, with the possibility of renewal. • Applicants must demonstrate a strong understanding of the overarching framework for reducing the incidence of new infections.
