Description

The Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) is conducting market research to identify parties interested in and capable of supporting the Deployable Flight Incident Recorder System (DFIRS) Mid-Life Upgrade (MUP) requirement. The effort includes production of DFIRS MUP B-Kit Weapon Replaceable Assemblies (WRAs), Data Bus Interface Unit (DBIU), and Deployable Flight Incident Recorder Unit (DFIRU). The DFIRS MUP system is designed to address Search and Rescue Satellite Emergency Locator Transmitter beacon frequency obsolescence. • The system must be able to be deployed from the aircraft via Cartridge Actuated Device during a mishap and survive terminal velocity ground impact and maintain flotation in the open ocean. • The contractor shall be responsible for obtaining all manufacturing drawings and proprietary specification data necessary to support the production of a DFIRS from DRS Technologies Canada Ltd. • Interested businesses should submit a brief capabilities statement package demonstrating their ability to provide the supplies and services described.

Budget estimate

$10,000,000 – $50,000,000

The budget for this opportunity is difficult to estimate, as the notice does not provide specific information on the contract value. However, considering the complexity of the Deployable Flight Incident Recorder System and the fact that it is a mid-life upgrade for F/A-18E/F and EA-18G aircraft, the contract value could be substantial. The estimated budget range could be between $10 million and $50 million, depending on the scope of work, the number of units to be produced, and the duration of the contract. Factors that may influence the likely payment range include the level of competition, the complexity of the system, and the requirements for testing and validation.
