Pre-kindergarten Math Textbook Adoption

The Buffalo Board of Education (BOE) and the Buffalo Public Schools (BPS) Early ChildhoodDepartment are seeking proposals from qualified publishers and vendors for a comprehensive,evidence‑based Prekindergarten mathematics textbook and instructional resource program. Theselected program will be implemented districtwide for all BPS Prekindergarten students andeducators and will serve as the core mathematics instructional resource.The instructional resource must align with the New York State Prekindergarten Learning Standards(NYSPKLS) and support an integrated, developmentally appropriate early childhood curriculum.High‑quality programs must address the four foundational mathematics domains:• Counting and Cardinality• Operations and Algebraic Thinking• Measurement and Data• GeometryThe purpose of this RFP is to identify a scientific, research‑based, and evidence‑based mathematicsinstructional program that reflects how young children learn mathematics best, through activeexploration, hands‑on learning, play‑based experiences, discourse, and real‑world connections. Theprogram must support conceptual understanding, early numeracy, spatial reasoning, andproblem‑solving skills while preparing students for future success under the NYS Next GenerationMathematics Learning Standards.The selected resource will be used by all Prekindergarten students, teachers, staff, and families forcore mathematics instruction and must promote equity, access, and responsiveness to diverselearners, including students with disabilities and emergent multilingual learners.
