Description

NASA’s National Space Science Center seeks a capable supplier to provide a flight‑qualified solar‑array wing assembly for the TERP RAPTOR 12U CubeSat destined for an Apophis asteroid fly‑by. The contractor must deliver a pair of solar array wings, associated hardware, documentation, and support for acceptance testing and integration. The work includes providing flight‑ready panels that meet strict size, mass, and power requirements, as well as conducting vibration, thermal‑vacuum, and bake‑out tests before delivery to the University of Maryland team for spacecraft integration at NASA Goddard. • Deliver one flight‑model solar array wing pair (20 cells per wing, hinges, thermal‑knife deployment) plus related EEE components and protective packaging. • Provide full interface documentation, software, calibration data, and on‑site technical support during acceptance, integration, and initial functional verification. • Perform environmental testing (vibration, TVAC, bake‑out) and certify compliance with NASA’s performance criteria prior to the July‑Oct 2027 integration window, ensuring readiness for a June 2028 launch.

Budget estimate

$800,000 – $1,200,000

Based on typical costs for custom, flight‑qualified solar‑array wings for small‑satellite missions—including design, fabrication, environmental testing, and on‑site support—the contract is likely to fall in the low‑to‑mid seven‑figure range. A modest contractor could expect to earn roughly $800 k to $1.2 M, with variability driven by the level of integration support, testing scope, and any schedule‑compression requirements.
