Description

The Tennessee Department of Health seeks a qualified laboratory to perform biochemical and molecular confirmatory testing on newborn‑screening dried‑blood‑spot specimens that have yielded abnormal initial results. The vendor will receive specimens, conduct high‑complexity clinical laboratory analyses, and return definitive results to support the state’s newborn‑screening program. This work is confidential and requires completion of a non‑disclosure agreement and vendor registration in the state system. • Perform both biochemical and molecular confirmatory assays on dried‑blood‑spot samples. • Deliver accurate, timely test results to the Department of Health for clinical follow‑up. • Comply with all confidentiality requirements under Tenn. Code Ann. § 10‑7504(i) and maintain secure data handling. • Register in Tennessee’s vendor system (≈10‑14 days) before submitting a full proposal by the January 23, 2026 deadline.

Budget estimate

$200,000 – $1,000,000

No budget is disclosed. Assuming the state processes several hundred abnormal newborn specimens annually, and each confirmatory test (biochemical and molecular) costs between $300‑$800, total annual spend could range from roughly $200,000 to $1,000,000. The estimate accounts for volume variability, test complexity, and overhead.
