Description
The City of Los Angeles is pre‑qualifying contractors to bid on the demolition of the Battery B Digester Facility at the Hyperion Water Reclamation Plant and associated site work. The scope includes selective demolition of six underground concrete digesters, ancillary structures, utilities, and associated underground tunnels; shoring design and installation for deep excavation (≈22 ft below grade); backfill, grading, and construction of new improvements such as utility reroutes, concrete walls, and street‑light foundations; hazardous‑material abatement (lead, asbestos); protection of existing infrastructure; and coordination of utility isolation, testing, and capping. Qualified firms must hold a California Class “A” General Engineering Contractor license, demonstrate extensive experience on multi‑million‑dollar industrial demolition and shoring projects, and meet extensive City insurance, bonding, and labor‑law requirements. The pre‑qualification period runs through 30 Oct 2026; the three top firms will be invited to submit lump‑sum bids for a $73 M construction contract expected to last 730 calendar days.
