The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has issued a Market Survey / Request for Information (RFI) to identify a commercially available Software‑as‑a‑Service (SaaS) solution that will replace the legacy Airspace Awareness and Detection System (AADS) with a modern, secure, map‑centric tactical flight‑tracking tool called “Defender.” The RFI seeks vendor input on architecture, security, data ownership, cloud certifications, and performance capabilities to inform the FAA’s acquisition strategy for a subscription‑based platform that will serve the FAA, TSA, DoD, and other national‑security partners.
• Develop a cloud‑hosted SaaS platform with real‑time multi‑source data ingestion, sub‑300 ms UI responsiveness, and role‑based user hierarchies.
• Ensure compliance with CUI/SFD handling (NIST 800‑171/IL‑4), FedRAMP or AWS GovCloud certifications, and secure map‑centric visualization of the National Airspace System.
• Provide capabilities such as advanced spatial filtering, geofencing, playback of 30‑day historical data, and integration with existing FAA/TSA data feeds (AMOSS, AAP Waivers, JetNet, etc.).
• Respond to a set of technical and contractual questions (experience, demonstrations, data rights, licensing) and submit responses by 3 PM ET on 2 Sept 2026.
