The Ocean Freight Reimbursement Program provides small, competitive grants to approximately 20 to 40 U.S. Private Voluntary Organizations (PVOs) each year. The program reimburses eligible transportation charges for shipments of privately donated goods and U.S. excess property for U.S. PVOs. The grants are used to reimburse PVO's ocean transport costs to transport donated commodities, such as medical supplies, agricultural equipment, educational supplies, and building equipment to responsible consignees in developing countries. Key aspects of the job include:
• Reimbursement of ocean freight costs for donated goods and U.S. excess property
• Partnership with local government, nongovernmental organizations, community partners, or other in-country organizations
• Compliance with USAID guidelines and regulations
• Proper pick-up and distribution of commodities by the recipient organization
• Duty-free importation of commodities into the recipient country
