Assistant County Counsel Services

The Ocean County Board of Commissioners is seeking qualified firms to provide Assistant County Counsel Services. The successful firm(s) will be responsible for providing legal guidance to the County of Ocean and the Ocean County Board of Commissioners, including general counsel services, special counsel services for assistant county adjuster, planning board attorney, construction board of appeals, and open public records matters. The firm(s) must have an office in Ocean County and a minimum of five years of experience in representing New Jersey county governments in various matters. Key responsibilities include: • Providing legal guidance on general counsel services, including contractual matters, civil service and personnel matters, eminent domain, planning and land use matters, and more • Representing the County in legal proceedings, including hearings, appeals, and litigation • Ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and regulations, including New Jersey Ethics and Conflict of Interest Laws • Maintaining primary insurance to protect against claims under Worker's Compensation, Comprehensive General Liability, and Automobile Liability • Complying with the Open Public Records Act and the Americans with Disabilities Act
