Boiler Replacement

The project involves replacing the boiler at the Arts, Humanities & Social Science Building & Gymnasium at Southern University at New Orleans. The contractor will be responsible for installing a new boiler, connecting it to the existing heating water vent, intake air, electrical, and controls, and replacing the existing outdoor air damper. The contractor must also verify the site conditions, quantities, and existing systems before bidding and during construction. Key aspects of the project include: • Installing a new boiler and connecting it to the existing systems • Replacing the existing outdoor air damper • Verifying site conditions and existing systems before bidding and during construction • Coordinating with other trades and disciplines • Providing temporary caps/plugs/covering on all open-ended piping and duct during construction • Pressuring testing all reused/rerouted piping systems • Installing duct sleeves in walls as high as possible • Providing flexible connections in all ductwork systems connected to air handling units, fans, and other equipment • Installing electrical disconnects for mechanical equipment • Providing permanent labels for all scheduled equipment • Installing access panels for equipment, valves, damper, etc. located above a non-accessible ceiling The project requires the contractor to have experience with boiler replacement, mechanical systems, and electrical systems. The contractor must also be familiar with the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) and local building codes.
