Description
The Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking a contractor to provide and install a complete door detection and notification system to alert caregivers of potential self-harm when a door is used as a ligature point in Building 520, VA Palo Alto Health Care System. The system should include top-of-door detection devices, control panels, display panels at each nurses station, strobes/lights, horns/alarms, low-voltage cabling and conduit as required, and local keyed reset switches compatible with VAPAHCS standards. The contractor shall furnish all labor, materials, equipment, transportation, supervision, and services necessary to deliver, install, test, and train VA staff on the system during normal business hours.
Key features of the system include:
• Top Door Presence Detection - Photoelectric beams installed on the door frame header and top door face
• Strobe or fixed light at each hallway doorsite
• Hallway horn
• Visual and audible room display panel located in the nurse’s station
• Capacity – customized design provides coverage for up to 72 doors per control panel
• Self-Monitoring – built-in features allow the system to continuously verify circuit and power supply integrity
• Event Logging – records time stamped history that are downloadable for 365 days
• Touch Screen Remote Display – capable of supporting multiple nurse stations to interface with one master control panel
• By-Pass Options – allows a facility to by-pass a single room or group of rooms and continue to maintain system-wide integrity
• Silent Test Option – allows the facility to test the system without disturbing patients
• Local Keyed Reset Switch - Positioned in the wall beside the door jamb
The contractor shall provide on-site training to VA clinical and facilities staff on operation, basic maintenance, and troubleshooting of the door detection and notification system.
