Description

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) requires a High Purity Germanium Gamma-Ray Spectrometer for sample analysis. The spectrometer must meet specific technical requirements, including compatibility with gamma-ray analysis application software and detector shields. The contract will be a Firm Fixed-Price award, and the period of performance will begin on the date of award and end 90 days later. The contractor will be responsible for delivering the spectrometer and providing a 12-month warranty. • The spectrometer must be compatible with the gamma-ray analysis application software system used by WEAC: genie 2000/APEX • The spectrometer signal output and controls must be compatible with Lynx MCAs (Multi-Channel Analyzers) • The spectrometer must be compatible with detector shields at WEAC designed for vertical dipstick cryostats (e.g. Canberra 767 and ORTEC/Putnam HPLBS-1F) • The spectrometer must have a vertical slimline dipstick cryostat • The spectrometer must have a preamplifier with three meter bias, high voltage inhibit, signal and power cables • The spectrometer must have a relative efficiency of 50-60% • The spectrometer must have a resolution of Full Width at Half Maximum (FWHM) is <= 1.25 at 122 keV energy line; is <= 2.2 keV at 1.3 MeV energy line • The spectrometer must have a peak shape: FWTP/FWHP: No larger than 1.90 • The spectrometer must have a peak to Compton ratio: 72:1 or better • The spectrometer must have an energy range: at least covers 40 keV to 10 MeV

Budget estimate

$200,000 – $500,000

The estimated budget for this contract is likely to be in the range of $200,000 to $500,000, based on the complexity and technical requirements of the High Purity Germanium Gamma-Ray Spectrometer. The FDA's budget for this procurement is not specified, but the contract is expected to be a Firm Fixed-Price award, which suggests that the budget will be a fixed amount. The technical requirements of the spectrometer, including its compatibility with specific software and detector shields, may also impact the budget amount.
