Description

The City of Pittsburgh is seeking proposals from qualified businesses to provide Zero Waste and compost planning. The city aims to update its existing Zero Waste plan with an implementable waste strategy, including a phased municipal composting strategy. The proposal should include a detailed discussion of the firm's approach, project plan, and cost proposal. The city requires respondents to demonstrate good faith efforts to obtain participation from Minority-Owned Business Enterprises (MBE's) and Women-Owned Business Enterprises (WBE's). The selected respondent will be required to enter into a contract with the City of Pittsburgh, contingent upon the approval of City Council. • The city's current waste management system and infrastructure • The proposed composting strategy and its feasibility • The cost estimate for the implementation of the composting program • The potential environmental benefits of the proposed composting program • The city's goals for increasing diversion and reducing waste • The role of the selected respondent in achieving these goals • The city's requirements for community engagement and education • The potential for partnerships with local businesses and organizations

Budget estimate

$200,000 – $500,000

The budget for this project is estimated to be around $200,000 to $500,000, considering the scope of work, the complexity of the project, and the city's budget for similar projects. The cost estimate is based on the assumption that the selected respondent will provide a comprehensive plan, including a phased municipal composting strategy, and will work closely with the city to implement the plan. Factors that may influence the likely payment range include the respondent's experience and qualifications, the level of community engagement and education required, and the potential for partnerships with local businesses and organizations.
