Description

The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Science Mission Directorate (SMD) has released its annual omnibus Research Announcement (NRA), Research Opportunities in Space and Earth Sciences (ROSES) – 2022. This opportunity is for the Heliophysics Innovation in Technology and Science program element, which seeks to support research and technology in heliophysics. The typical period of performance for an award is three years, but some programs may allow up to five years. Proposals may be submitted at any time, pending certain eligibility timing issues. • Proposals may be submitted by organizations of every type, Government and private, for profit and not-for-profit, domestic and foreign. • Awards will be made as grants, cooperative agreements, contracts, and inter- or intra-agency transfers. • The opportunity is open to US institutions, and organizations outside the US that propose on the basis of a policy of no-exchange-of-funds. • Technical questions concerning specific program elements should be directed to the point(s) of contact for that particular element.

Budget estimate

$500,000 – $5,000,000

The budget for this opportunity is not explicitly stated in the document. However, considering the typical period of performance for an award is three years and the opportunity is for research and technology in heliophysics, the budget could be in the range of $500,000 to $5 million. This is a rough estimate and the actual budget could be higher or lower, depending on the specific proposal and the NASA's budget for the program. Factors that may influence the likely payment range include the scope of the project, the number of proposals received, and the availability of funds.
