Maintenance of the Groupers

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) intends to issue a new non-competitive contract to Solventum Health Information Systems Inc. for the maintenance of the groupers, ICD-10, and national coverage determinations. The contractor will be required to furnish all necessary services, software, personnel, supplies, and equipment to provide support for critical functions, including the validation of HCPCS codes, software systems maintenance, and updates to the MS-DRGs and HHG software. The contract's period of performance will be a 12-month base year and four 12-month option years. Some key responsibilities of the contractor include: • Continuing the planning and pre-development sources for major payment programs • Updating the ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS coding systems • Ensuring changes to edits and logic for products in response to legislative mandates • Maintaining the MS-DRGs in ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS • Optimizing groupers with real-time ICD-10 data • Continuing value-added improvements and expansion of remotely accessible web-based interfaces The ideal contractor should be proficient in JAVA computer languages, have a thorough understanding of CMS groupers, editors, and PPS, and demonstrate proficiency in ICD-10 CM coding as it applies to Medicare claims processing.
