Description

Pierce County is seeking a licensed contractor to provide ongoing preventive maintenance and on‑demand repairs for a fleet of county‑owned generators located throughout the county. The work will be performed to manufacturer specifications on a unit‑price basis, with the County paying only for actual work performed. The contract is initially for one year with an option to extend for a second year, not to exceed two years total. The estimated value of the maintenance portion is $450,000 and the repair portion $200,000, for a combined ceiling of roughly $650,000 (excluding taxes). Bidders must submit a 5 % bid bond and will be required to post a $200,000 performance bond for the repair portion, plus a 5 % retainage. Prevailing‑wage rules, extensive insurance requirements, and a 5 % bid‑bond guarantee apply. • Scope: Periodic preventive maintenance and corrective repairs of generators (all makes/models). • Contract type: Unit‑price public‑works contract (Invitation to Bid). • Estimated value: $450k (maintenance) + $200k (repairs) ≈ $650k total. • Duration: 1‑year base period, renewable for a second year (max 2 years). • Mandatory requirements: 5 % bid bond, $200k performance bond, 5 % retainage, prevailing‑wage compliance, extensive liability and workers’ compensation insurance. • Submission: Electronic bids via OpenGov portal by 1:00 PM PDT, 9/25/2026; questions due by 4:00 PM PDT, 9/17/2026. • Contact: Dalton Gamboa, Procurement & Contract Services (phone (253) 798‑7456, email [email protected]).

Budget estimate

$600,000 – $700,000

The solicitation lists an initial maintenance budget of $450,000 and a repair budget of $200,000, for a combined ceiling of $650,000 (excluding state and local sales tax). Considering the 5 % retainage that will be held until final acceptance, the net cash flow to the contractor will likely fall between $617,500 and $650,000. Additional costs such as bonding (5 % bid bond, $200,000 performance bond) and insurance are passed through to the contractor and are not part of the revenue. Therefore a realistic budget range is roughly $600,000–$700,000, allowing for modest variations in actual work volume and change orders.
