Description

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) seeks a commercial vendor to supply, install, and support a modern flow imaging microscopy instrument that integrates light obscuration capabilities for sub‑visible particle measurement in biopharmaceutical products. The instrument must cover a particle size range of ~2 µm to 70 µm, include data acquisition and analysis software, consumables, a one‑year warranty, on‑site installation at NIST’s Gaithersburg campus, and training for up to three NIST personnel. The contract will also include a service agreement with optional extension years. • Provide one flow‑imaging microscope with light‑obscuration module meeting detailed optical and fluidic specifications. • Supply computer, software (Visual Spreadsheet v6), consumables, operations & maintenance manual. • Deliver, install, and certify the system within 90 days of award; complete installation and training within 120 days. • Offer a one‑year warranty covering parts, labor, and travel; optional multi‑year service periods. • Perform on‑site training for up to three users and provide ongoing technical support.

Budget estimate

$200,000 – $500,000

Based on the detailed specifications (high‑resolution camera, laser light source, custom software, installation, training, and a one‑year warranty) similar laboratory imaging systems typically cost between $200,000 and $500,000. The lower end reflects a basic configuration with minimal accessories, while the higher end includes full software suites, consumables, and extended service options.
