Description

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is funding programs to track, prevent, and control sexually transmitted infections (STIs) in state, district, territorial, and city or county health departments. The purpose of this Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) is to track, prevent, and control three common STIs: syphilis, gonorrhea, and chlamydia. The NOFO supports the goals of the Sexually Transmitted Infections National Strategic Plan 2021-2025. Key aspects of this opportunity include: • Preventing new STIs • Improving the health of people by reducing adverse outcomes of STIs • Implementing STI prevention technology and innovations more quickly • Reducing the impact of STIs in areas or populations disproportionately impacted by STIs • Achieving integrated, coordinated efforts that address the STI epidemic Local surveillance data will determine the priority populations for this NOFO, and each program should focus on populations that are disproportionately impacted by STI transmission.

Budget estimate

$1,000,000 – $10,000,000

The estimated funding for this opportunity is $500,000,000. This amount will be distributed among all fifty states, the District of Columbia, the US Virgin Islands, and Puerto Rico, as well as a limited number of cities. The actual budget for each recipient will depend on the funding formula, which is based on the respective jurisdiction's population and morbidity of three reportable STIs. The estimated budget for each state or city will likely be in the range of $1 million to $10 million, depending on the jurisdiction's population and STI morbidity. However, this is just a rough estimate, and the actual budget could be higher or lower. Factors that may influence the likely payment range include the jurisdiction's population, STI morbidity, and organizational capacity.
