Traditional Sugar Bush Workshop Coordinator and Instructor

The Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa and Chippewa Indians is seeking a Traditional Sugar Bush Workshop Coordinator and Instructor to lead the coordinating and hosting of the 2026 GTB Sugar Bush Camp. The contractor will be responsible for contributing to and co-hosting a series of sugar bush educational events, planning, promoting, developing lessons, and tracking attendance for sugar bush workshops from November 2025 to September 2026. The ideal candidate will have a passion for instructing on topics related to traditional and modern maple sugar and syrup production, Anishinaabe traditional knowledge, event hosting, and storytelling. Key responsibilities include: • Coordinating with other contractors to provide educational workshop experiences • Designing and obtaining quotes for promotional materials and educational campaign tools • Developing inclusive curriculum to disseminate knowledge regarding traditional sugar bush lifeways • Connecting Anishinaabe traditions to the current industry in the area and supporting a healthy sugar bush industry • Honoring traditional sugar bush life ways while recognizing the benefits of modern techniques and technology
