Description

The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Science Mission Directorate (SMD) has released its annual omnibus Research Announcement (NRA), Research Opportunities in Space and Earth Sciences (ROSES) – 2023. This program element, B.15 Heliophysics Innovation in Technology and Science, is one of the individual program elements within ROSES. The purpose of this program is to support research and technology in space and Earth sciences. Awards will be made as grants, cooperative agreements, contracts, and inter- or intra-agency transfers, depending on the nature of the work proposed. • The typical period of performance for an award is three years, but some programs may allow up to five years and others specify shorter periods. • Most extramural research awards deriving from ROSES will be grants. • Organizations of every type, Government and private, for profit and not-for-profit, domestic and foreign (with some caveats), may submit proposals without restriction on teaming arrangements. • Proposers must be affiliated with an institution at nspires.nasaprs.com/ and, in general, NASA provides funding only to US institutions.

Budget estimate

$500,000 – $5,000,000

The budget amount for this opportunity is not specified in the document. However, based on the fact that NASA provides funding for research and technology in space and Earth sciences, and the typical period of performance for an award is three years, we can estimate the budget amount to be in the range of $500,000 to $5 million. This estimate is based on the assumption that the funding will be used to support research and technology development, and the amount will depend on the scope and complexity of the project.
