RFP - PEDESTRIAN SAFETY AND ACCESSIBILITY DESIGN SERVICES

The City of Boston’s Public Works Department is seeking design services from a qualified engineering firm or team of firms to deliver pedestrian ramp and intersection engineering plans at various locations across the City. The contract aims to substantially augment capacity to deliver a high-volume of reconstructed curb ramps that meet current federal, Massachusetts Architectural Board (MAAB), and City of Boston disability access standards. The target volume of individual ramps to be assessed, surveyed, and designed through this contract is a minimum of 1,000 ramps, annually, for each year of the contract term. Key aspects of the job include: • Delivering pedestrian ramp and intersection engineering plans • Assessing, surveying, and designing a minimum of 1,000 ramps annually • Meeting current federal, MAAB, and City of Boston disability access standards • Substantially augmenting capacity to deliver a high-volume of reconstructed curb ramps • Compliance with the City Charter and exemption from Chapter 30B § 1(b) (32A) of the Massachusetts General Laws
