Description

The State Agency Non-Enforcement Program (SANEP) is a grant program established by the Illinois Department of Transportation's Bureau of Safety Programs and Engineering. The program's main emphasis is on education, prevention, training, outreach, and public awareness of highway safety issues. Eligible applicants include state agencies or constitutional offices outside the purview of the Illinois Office of the Governor with enforcement duties carried out by sworn law enforcement officers. Some possible projects that can be funded under this program include: • Developing and implementing statewide peer-to-peer teen safety programming • Public education and awareness campaigns on highway safety issues • Using data-driven approaches to evaluate and address highway safety issues • Providing training, technical assistance, and education to law enforcement officers, prosecutors, and judges • Assisting with the development, implementation, or expansion of “No-refusal” search warrant and/or e-search warrant programs • Developing and supporting Alcohol, Oral Fluid, and Toxicology programs.
