Description

The project involves removing invasive shrubs and small trees on up to 40 acres of woodland at Easter Lake Park using a forestry mower or similar equipment and herbicide application. The contractor must have a commercial certified pesticide applicator's license in the State of Iowa. The project requires two chemical treatments to control re-sprouts, with the first application aiming for at least 80% coverage of re-sprouting vegetation. The contractor will be paid based on acres mowed and treated. Key responsibilities include protecting existing buildings, walks, paving, and other items, maintaining bench marks and reference points, and ensuring safety during the project. • Target vegetation includes honeysuckle, autumn olive, and other invasive species. • The contractor must avoid damaging larger tree species (>4" dbh) and take precautions to prevent off-target damage during herbicide application. • A site visit is recommended to ensure adequate pricing. • The contractor must comply with all applicable laws, regulations, and safety guidelines, including OSHA standards. • Insurance requirements include workers' compensation, commercial general liability, and excess liability insurance.

Budget estimate

$200,000 – $500,000

Given the scope of work, which includes removing invasive shrubs and small trees on up to 40 acres and applying herbicide for re-sprout control, the cost could vary widely based on factors like equipment rental, labor, herbicide costs, and the necessity for specialized licenses and insurance. However, considering the project's scale and the requirement for specialized equipment and licensing, a rough estimate might place the contract value in the range of $200,000 to $500,000. This estimate considers the costs of equipment, labor, materials, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
