The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) is conducting market research to determine the availability of qualified businesses capable of providing acoustic releases and acoustic equipment. The equipment must be compatible and fully interoperable with existing USGS equipment, including Innovasea VR100, VHTx 69kHz Transponding Hydrophone, and associated (mooring) lugs. The required items include acoustic releases, surface transponders, 69kHz transponding hydrophones, and release lugs for acoustic releases.
• The acoustic releases must be waterproof rated to at least 400m and have a safe workload of at least 200 pounds.
• The surface transponder must have a receive frequency in the 12 to 307 kHz range and be able to communicate with a PC through USB.
• The 69kHz transponding hydrophone must be able to communicate with an acoustic release or deployed transponding receiver and have an operating mode frequency within 51–84kHz.
• The release lugs for acoustic releases must be easily replaceable and have a mooring hole for convenient attachment to a mooring device.
