The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Science Mission Directorate (SMD) has released its annual omnibus Research Announcement (NRA), Research Opportunities in Space and Earth Sciences (ROSES) – 2025. This program element solicits a broad range of research and applications, including topics from what were previously individual program elements. The typical period of performance for an award is three years. Proposals submitted to this program will be evaluated using dual-anonymous review.
• Proposals are due October 15, 2026.
• Awards will be made as grants, cooperative agreements, or contracts depending on the nature of the work proposed.
• Most extramural research awards deriving from ROSES will be grants.
• The S/T/M Section of the anonymized proposals is limited to ten (10) pages.
• Research security training is required starting August 5, 2026, for all PIs and any Co-Is that would spend ≥ 10% time on a proposed grant or cooperative agreement.
