Medical Center Laundry and Linen Processing Services, Mann-Grandstaff VA Medical Center

The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is conducting market research to identify potential sources that can provide medical center laundry and linen processing services. The services are required for the Mann-Grandstaff VA Medical Center in Spokane, WA, due to a temporary facility closure for repairs. The contractor will be responsible for furnishing all labor, equipment, supervision, management, supplies, and facilities necessary to perform bulk laundry/linen services. The estimated annual volume is 610,000 lbs. The contractor must clean with a tuberculocidal germicide/disinfectant all carts after unloading soiled linen and prior to loading clean linen. The work must be performed under sanitary conditions as specified by the Joint Commission and the Association of Linen Management. Key requirements include: • Furnishing all labor, equipment, supervision, management, supplies, and facilities necessary to perform bulk laundry/linen services • Cleaning with a tuberculocidal germicide/disinfectant all carts after unloading soiled linen and prior to loading clean linen • Performing work under sanitary conditions as specified by the Joint Commission and the Association of Linen Management • Maintaining physical separation and positive air pressure in the clean section relative to a negative air pressure in the soiled section • Incorporating a "design for asepsis" in the laundry plant layout/design to avoid cross-contamination or reintroduction of bacteria once processed
