The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) is seeking a contractor to rebuild the Site Effluent Treatment System, which is located on the south end of the NIST campus in Gaithersburg, Maryland. The system requires a complete renovation of all internal components to fulfill operational, regulatory, and life safety requirements. The project includes replacing the tank components, floor surface, support members, safety blowers, heaters, stir/agitation motor, PH monitoring probes, and explosion-proof electrical wiring and conduit. The contractor will be responsible for demolishing and replacing all necessary components to bring the system back to operable condition. The period of performance for this project is estimated to be 200 days from the Notice to Proceed.
• The system was built in the mid-1990s and is centered around a large concrete tank (wet tank) that provides primary effluent treatment.
• The system has been found to be inoperable due to various issues, including a detached primary floor support, sagging aluminum grating, and corroded internal blowers and heater.
• The contractor will be required to replace all necessary components, including the floor surface, support members, safety blowers, heaters, stir/agitation motor, PH monitoring probes, and explosion-proof electrical wiring and conduit.
• The project requires a complete renovation of the wet tank and systems to bring it back to operable condition.
• The contractor will be selected based on the best value to the government, considering technical approach, schedule, and price.
