The National Park Service intends to award a task agreement under a previously competed master cooperative agreement to support safety and risk management at Pacific West Region parks. The project aims to provide two interns with hands-on experience in safety, health, and wellness programming and operations throughout the region. The interns will work with a variety of parks, programs, and managers to review safety, health, and wellness programming and operations, and will be mentored by safety, health, and wellness staff at the region and parks. The project will help promote occupational health and safety programming within the Pacific West Region and contribute to efforts to reduce the potential for injuries to those working within national park units. Key aspects of the project include:
* Providing interns with hands-on experience in safety, health, and wellness programming and operations
* Mentoring interns by safety, health, and wellness staff at the region and parks
* Reviewing and completing projects related to safety program reviews, volunteer program safety, youth programs safety, and safety-related communication
* Researching and completing projects related to the identification and recruitment of future members of the NPS safety, health, and wellness workforce
