The Cape Fear Public Utility Authority (CFPUA) is seeking a qualified engineering firm to provide an Arc Flash Study associated with the Northside Water Reclamation Facility. The study aims to evaluate the potential incident energy at electrical equipment throughout the facility, ensuring that staff, contractors, and operators are adequately protected when working on or near energized components. The selected firm will be responsible for performing a thorough assessment, updating single-line diagrams, and providing clear, actionable recommendations to strengthen electrical safety across the facility.
Key aspects of the project include:
• Providing a comprehensive evaluation of the potential incident energy at electrical equipment
• Establishing proper labeling of electrical panels and equipment
• Identifying the required level of personal protective equipment (PPE)
• Highlighting areas where system coordination or equipment improvements may reduce risk
• Supporting compliance with NFPA 70E and OSHA requirements
The CFPUA will evaluate firms based on their experience, knowledge, and familiarity with large water and wastewater treatment plants. The selection process will follow a qualifications-based approach, with firms being evaluated on their project understanding and approach, relevant firm experience, overall staff experience, and record of success.
