Description

The project calls for the design‑build construction of a new berthing facility for the research vessel R/V Virginia (RVVA) at the Virginia Institute of Marine Science campus in Gloucester Point, VA. Work includes dredging an existing boat basin, constructing a steel‑sheet‑pile bulkhead, extending the existing breakwater and jetty, installing utilities (water, sewer, power, telecom), and providing a gravel‑pave access road. The contract will be awarded as a lump‑sum sealed‑bid and will require compliance with state prevailing‑wage rules, environmental permits, and a 180‑day schedule for substantial completion. • Dredge ~10,131 cubic yards to a design depth of –15 ft NAVD. • Build two ~95‑ft steel bulkheads, armor‑stone, and jetty extensions. • Install new water, sanitary, storm‑water, electrical, and telecom utilities plus a gravel‑pave access road. • Follow strict erosion‑control, sediment‑containment, and post‑construction inspection requirements.
