Description

The City of Montrose is requesting formal bids for the Moving Montrose Forward Surface Treatment (Slurry and Cape Seal) Project. The project involves the application of slurry and cape seal to various roads in Montrose, Colorado. The contractor will be responsible for preparing the roadway surfaces, applying the surface treatments, and performing other related work. The project requires the contractor to follow the City of Montrose standards and specifications, as well as the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) standards. The contractor must also ensure that all work is performed in a safe and efficient manner, and that all traffic control and striping are done in accordance with the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD). Some key aspects of the project include: • The contractor must attend weekly progress meetings with the owner and engineer to discuss the work progress and any outstanding issues. • The contractor is responsible for protecting all utilities and culverts throughout construction and must restore any damaged utilities to their pre-project condition at their cost. • The contractor must perform routine inspections of traffic control as necessary to maintain safe and effective traffic control in compliance with MUTCD standards and the approved traffic control plans. • The contractor is responsible for disposing of all materials removed from the site in accordance with applicable waste handling and disposal laws.

Budget estimate

$500,000 – $1,000,000

The budget for this project can be estimated based on the scope of work and the materials required. The project involves the application of slurry and cape seal to various roads, which requires a significant amount of materials and labor. The cost of materials, equipment, and labor will be the primary factors in determining the budget. Assuming an average cost of $2 per square yard for slurry seal and $3 per square yard for cape seal, and considering the quantities listed in the project plans, the total budget can be estimated to be around $500,000 to $1,000,000. However, this is a rough estimate and the actual budget may vary depending on various factors, including the contractor's bid, the cost of materials, and the complexity of the project.
