The Administration for Community Living (ACL) is offering grants under the Alzheimer's Disease Programs Initiative (ADPI) to support state and territory programs for dementia-specific respite. The goal of this initiative is to provide relief to unpaid caregivers of individuals with probable Alzheimer's disease or related dementias (ADRD) by increasing access to dementia-specific respite services.
• The program aims to reduce caregiver burden and delay institutionalization of people with ADRD.
• The program will provide funding to state units on aging to distribute to area agencies on aging to carry out program implementation.
• The program will support the development of eligibility criteria, caregiver navigation and referral systems, and flexible respite delivery models.
• The program will also support community-specific outreach, rural service delivery strategies, caregiver wellness supports, and quality and dementia-capable service standards.
