Description

The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Science Mission Directorate (SMD) has released its annual omnibus Research Announcement, Research Opportunities in Space and Earth Sciences (ROSES) – 2022. This program element, Heliophysics Tools and Methods, is one of the individual program elements within ROSES. The program provides funding for research and technology in space and Earth sciences. Awards will be made as grants, cooperative agreements, contracts, and inter- or intra-agency transfers. The typical period of performance for an award is three years, but some programs may allow up to five years. • Proposals may be submitted at any time, pending certain eligibility timing issues. • The program element is part of the ROSES-2022 solicitation, which has multiple due dates and topics. • Awards will be made based on the nature of the work proposed, the proposing organization, and/or program requirements. • Most extramural research awards deriving from ROSES will be grants. • Organizations of every type, Government and private, for profit and not-for-profit, domestic and foreign, may submit proposals without restriction on teaming arrangements.

Budget estimate

$500,000 – $5,000,000

The budget amount for this opportunity is not explicitly stated in the document. However, based on the fact that the program provides funding for research and technology in space and Earth sciences, and the typical period of performance for an award is three years, a reasonable estimate for the budget amount could be in the range of $500,000 to $5 million. This estimate is based on the assumption that the funding will be used to support research and development activities, and the amount will depend on the scope and complexity of the project.
