Residential Opportunities on Main Street Grant (ROOMS)

* The goal of the ROOMS grant program is to encourage renovation and improvements in the upper floors of commercial buildings in local Main Street districts. * The program aims to create new housing opportunities in downtown commercial districts, rehabilitate or preserve properties, and create a stronger tax base. * Eligible applicants are active, Designated Kansas Main Street programs. * Applicants must submit architect drawings, an analysis of existing local codes, bids, a pro forma analysis, and a business plan for the project. * The grant program will review applications for eligibility, project impact, design appropriateness, and innovation. * Successful applicants will be notified in writing of the grant awards and must complete the project as presented in the application. * The program requires local Main Street programs to provide budget information, expenditures, and a summary report, including photographs, at the conclusion of the project.
