Cambus Computer Aided Dispatch/Automatic Vehicle Location (CAD/AVL) System

The University of Iowa is seeking a Computer-Aided Dispatch/Automatic Vehicle Location (CAD/AVL) system for its Cambus transit system. The system should include real-time vehicle tracking, automated dispatch functionality, and data reporting and analytics tools. The proposed solution should integrate with the University's existing systems and provide a user-friendly interface for dispatchers, supervisors, and administrators. The system should also include solutions for operator-facing mobile devices and provide data reporting features that support National Transit Database (NTD) reporting. Key features of the proposed solution include: • Real-time vehicle tracking using GPS with frequent intervals of refresh • Automated dispatch functionality, including route/vehicle assignment and operator management • Web-based user interface for dispatchers, supervisors, and administrators • Data reporting and analytics tools for ridership, on-time performance, vehicle/system history, and other operational metrics and KPIs • Ability for Cambus staff to adjust route alignments and schedules as permanent changes or as temporary detours/service adjustments • Incorporation of operator panic button to covertly alert dispatch to safety or security threats The University is looking for a supplier that can provide a comprehensive solution that meets its requirements and provides excellent customer service. The supplier should have experience in providing similar solutions to other transit systems and should be able to provide references. The University is also looking for a supplier that can provide a detailed implementation plan, including timelines and milestones, and that can provide ongoing training and support.
