SNOWPLOW CARBIDE BLADES

The Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) is soliciting bids for snowplow carbide blades. The blades must meet specific requirements, including being made of 87-88% tungsten carbide, 11-12% cobalt, and 1% maximum for all other elements. The inserts must also have a hardness of 88.0-90.5 HRA, a density of 14.4-14.5 g/cc, and a porosity of A04 = 0.06%, B02 = 0.02%, C04 = 0.06%. The blades must be free of cracks and laminations, and the carbide inserts must be brazed on all sides. The vendor must perform ASTM testing on a representative sample of each lot of carbide material and provide the Department with all test results and AQL findings. • The blades must be 3/4" by 6" by the requested length and made of hot rolled AISI 1020 quality steel. • The inserts must be 25-degree trapezoidal or bullnose shape with specific nominal dimensions. • The vendor must provide a statement of Acceptable Quality Level (AQL) inspection data, including acceptance and rejection findings. • The Department will review the provided information and either accept or reject the carbide material.
