The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) is seeking information on opportunities to reduce operational costs through commercialization of satellite operations and ground system services. The RFI outlines potential activities for transitioning the current on-orbit operations responsibilities for the Joint Polar Satellite System (JPSS) and Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellites (GOES)-R constellations, as well as the Space Weather Follow On-Lagrange 1 (SWFO-L1) observatory, to a commercial satellite operations service.
• The Government is looking for information on how industry can provide capabilities and services to support the JPSS, GOES-R, and SWFO-L1 missions.
• The RFI seeks information on commercial services' ability to support the launch, early orbit, and activation of future JPSS missions.
• The Government wants to explore the ability for a commercial vendor to assume operations for the JPSS, GOES-R, and SWFO-L1 constellations for the remainder of their mission lifecycles.
• The RFI includes requirements for command, control, and communications segment (C3S) capabilities, as well as commercially-provided ground system services and operations staff.
