Description

The University of Montana is considering a request from the Montana Climate Office to award a Sole Source contract to SunWize Power & Battery, LLC as the provider of Solar Power System for extreme environments. The purpose of this network is to provide essential snowpack, soil moisture, and atmospheric data in near real-time to protect mission critical national defense assets and to provide early warning for severe weather events and the damaging economic impacts of drought. The required system specifications include a solar panel, 400W, 24V, solar panel mount, minimal rating 120MPH, and other components. The vendor must provide responsive troubleshooting and engineering support throughout the service life of the solar power systems. • The solar power systems must reliably provide sufficient charging and battery capacity to sustain 24V output to operate stations components year-round in the harsh environmental extremes common to Montana. • The systems must be pre-configured and pre-fabricated to assure system integrity and rapid deployment by the university's crews. • The vendor must include responsive troubleshooting and engineering support throughout the service life of the solar power systems. • The university requires a determination of whether more than one source is available to provide the product/services, and if evidence is presented, the university may issue a competitive solicitation.

Budget estimate

$100,000 – $500,000

The estimated budget for this opportunity is between $100,000 and $500,000. This estimate is based on the required system specifications, including the solar panel, mount, and other components, as well as the need for responsive troubleshooting and engineering support. The university's requirement for a pre-configured and pre-fabricated system also suggests a higher cost. Additionally, the fact that the university is considering a sole source contract suggests that the cost may be higher due to the specialized nature of the product and services required.
