MS1-00049 Iowa-6th St to Harvard Improvements

The City of Lawrence, Kansas, is inviting bids for the resurfacing of Iowa Street (US-40/59) from Harvard Road to 6th Street. The work includes pavement maintenance, milling, asphalt surfacing, concrete pavement overlay, sidewalks, sidewalk ramps, concrete curb and gutter, and pavement markings. The project requires the contractor to complete the work within 80 days, with a liquidated damages clause of $1,000 per day for delays. The contractor must also provide a bid bond, performance bond, and maintenance bond. The city reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to waive informalities. • The project includes approximately 24,506 SY of milling, 4108 tons of asphalt surfacing, 700 SY of 10” concrete pavement to be overlaid, 62 SY of sidewalks and sidewalk ramps, 1539 L.F. of concrete curb and gutter, and pavement markings. • The contractor must comply with the Kansas Act Against Discrimination and include the phrase "equal opportunity employer" in all solicitations or advertisements for employees. • The contractor must provide insurance to protect against hazards, including public liability and property damage, and name the City of Lawrence as an additional insured. • The contractor must indemnify and hold harmless the city and its employees and officials from any loss caused by the contractor's negligence or wrongful acts.
