Description

The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) is seeking continued enhancements to ICESat-2 land ice science product algorithms. The project aims to develop land-ice data products to ensure that the ICESat-2 project and future altimetry missions can provide ongoing high-quality records of ice-sheet change. The work will involve improving the current products, making them compatible with future data, and developing techniques to maintain data continuity. The project will also explore the use of additional datasets to improve product precision, resolution, and coverage. Some key aspects of the project include: • Improving the current products to fulfill the evolving needs of the scientific community • Making the current products compatible with the data that will be available in the future • Developing techniques that can keep generating gridded products in the face of computational challenges • Improving product precision, spatial resolution, and temporal resolution • Developing algorithms to allow faster and easier calculations • Improving access to algorithms and documentation

Budget estimate

$500,000 – $2,000,000

The budget for this opportunity is not explicitly stated in the document. However, considering the scope of work, which involves continued enhancements to ICESat-2 land ice science product algorithms, and the fact that it is a sole source contract with the University of Washington, the budget could be substantial. Factors that may influence the likely payment range include the complexity of the algorithms, the amount of data to be processed, and the duration of the project. A rough estimate for the budget could be in the range of $500,000 to $2 million, considering the project's goals and the University of Washington's involvement.
