Description

The USDA Forest Service Prescribed Fire Science Laboratory is conducting a market survey to research Terrestrial Imaging Laser Scanner Systems that meet specific requirements, including high-density point cloud acquisition, integrated photographic imaging capabilities, and ease of use for field crews. The system must have a compact size and weight, a minimum measurement range of 0.5 meters, and a maximum measurement range of 20 meters. It must also have a 3D point accuracy of ±5 millimeters, a field of view of 360° in the horizontal plane, and a point measurement rate exceeding 500,000 points per second. • The system must be capable of capturing 3D point clouds of surfaces while remaining stationary. • The system must have a built-in high-resolution camera to obtain on-demand RGB photographs. • The system must meet a minimum IP54 rating for use outdoors. • The system must be powered by a chargeable and replaceable battery. Interested parties are invited to provide information about their products, including manufacturer name, manufacturer part number, and country of origin, via email to Jocelyn Hayes and Keith Friot by June 1, 2026.

Budget estimate

$50,000 – $200,000

The budget for this opportunity is difficult to estimate, as the document does not provide a specific budget or price range. However, based on the requirements and specifications of the Terrestrial Imaging Laser Scanner System, it is likely that the cost will be in the range of $50,000 to $200,000. This estimate is based on the complexity of the system, the required accuracy and measurement range, and the need for a built-in high-resolution camera and other features. The actual budget may be higher or lower, depending on the specific products and vendors that respond to the market research.
